Winter Reading Incentive
January 17, 2019
Fry Elementary School is participating in two reading incentive programs this winter. They are the Six Flags Great America - Read to Succeed program and the Kane County Cougars Baseball - Ozzie's Reading Club. Every student who completes six hours, or 360 minutes, of recreational reading will earn a free admission ticket to both places. These programs are meant to encourage reading for enjoyment along with improving reading skills. Please encourage your child to participate and support your child in striving to achieve this goal.
Upon reaching the 6 hour reading goal, the student will receive a Six Flags Great America free admission ticket to the park in Gurnee to be used during the summer of 2019 (specific dates will be provided on the ticket.) He or she will also receive a voucher for parent’s to order a free ticket to the Kane County Cougars baseball game to be used on our school's designated date which is Friday, May 10, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. Students who participate earn a FREE Cougars ticket, hot dog and drink and a Cougars drawstring bag! Students will also receive a Golden Ticket for complimentary admission to all June-September games as well as a coupon for a FREE Oberweis ice cream cone. In addition, they will be recognized on the field in a pre-game parade.
Students can read books, eBooks, magazines, newspapers, and comic books. They can read on their own or parents can read to young children. What does not count, is any reading your child has to do for homework or an assignment. To record the reading, simply complete the Student Reading Log on the reverse of this letter. This one log will count for both tickets to Six Flags and the Kane County Cougars Game. At the conclusion of reading, tally up how many minutes were read and provide a parent signature that verifies the accuracy of the amount of minutes read. We must have this information and parent signature to process the ticket request.
This form must be completed and returned to Fry’s LMC by Friday, February 15, 2019
in order for us to order the tickets. Since there is a quick turnaround time for us to order the tickets, late forms cannot be accepted. When we receive the tickets for your child in May, we will send them home to you via backpacks. If you have any questions, please contact the Library Media Center at 630-428-7414, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
There’s no better time than winter to cuddle up with a great book!
Thank you for supporting and encouraging reading for enjoyment,
