Fry Elementary School Weekly Announcements 3/18/19

Safety Week
Teachers and staff will teach safety lessons to students this week as part of "Safety Week" at Fry. The lessons will cover the mandatory drills for fire and tornado and also general school safety. The following safety skills will be presented in age appropriate ways: listen to an adult, be alert, situational awareness, moving with a purpose, exit awareness and rally points. These lessons are designed to cover the basic components of school safety without creating anxiety or worry in students. Please contact your child's teacher or Mrs. Hillman in the office if you have any questions.

Illinois Assessment of Readiness
Students in grade 3-5 will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) after spring break. Please see the attached district letter regarding the assessment.
The testing dates at Fry are Tuesday 4/9 through Friday 4/12, and Wed. 4/17. Students will take one assessment per day for a total of 5 sessions over 5 days (2 ELA, 3 Math). Please avoid scheduling appointments on these dates. Also, please note that students will need their CHARGED Chromebooks at school for the testing.

Fall 2019 Kindergarten
Kindergarten Information Night (for parents) will take place at Fry on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:30. If you haven’t pre-registered your child for kindergarten, please contact the office right away. Thank you!

3/25-4/2 No School (Students return Wednesday, April 3rd)
4/9-4/12 & 4/17 IAR Testing (grades 3-5)
4/19 No School
