Fry Elementary School Weekly Announcements 10/28/19

Thank you to the Fry PTA for a FANTASTIC Foxtober! Thanks to everyone who volunteered and donated. The students enjoyed Friday’s festivities-it was a great day to be a Fox!

Drill Tuesday

The safety of our students and staff is always a top priority for our district. We are committed to best practices to keep everyone in our school safe in a variety of situations. Among our efforts to remain diligent about safety is the completion of a law enforcement supervised lockdown drill that we will practice this Tuesday morning.

We will use this drill as an opportunity to discuss emergency scenarios with students, in age-appropriate ways, and identify opportunities for improvement in emergency response. Please note, student participation in this drill is limited to discussion only, with an emphasis on previous concepts covered in August during “Safety Week”. We appreciate the assistance of local law enforcement in supervising our drills and helping keep our school safe.

Halloween Parade

Fry will hold a Halloween parade, weather permitting, on Thurs. Oct. 31st at 2:00. Students should bring costumes to school with them in the morning. Costumes should be school appropriate. No weapons/look-a-likes are allowed.

The parade will start at the gym doors, go across the front of the school, down the south sidewalk, and end at the back playground doors. Parents are welcome to view the outdoor parade by standing on the grass or front circle drive blacktop. If the parade is canceled due to weather, we will send a connect ed message by noon. Please do not call the office before noon…we’ll let you know as soon as a decision is made!

PTA Room Parties will begin after the parade. Classroom visitors are limited to PTA room party parents during this time. Students may bring their own special snack for the room party. While the snack does not need to adhere to our usual “healthy snack” guidelines, we do ask that you follow any classroom allergy guidelines that may have been sent for your child’s classroom at the beginning of the year. As a reminder, no food treats may be shared at school. Please do not send candy or other food items to be shared with the class.

Conference Sign-Up

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21st (evening only) and all day/evening on Monday, Nov. 25th (No School). Conference sign-up will once again be completed on-line via Home Access/Power PTC. PARENTS WILL BE ABLE TO SIGN-UP BEGINNING THIS FRIDAY, NOV. 1st. Please watch for directions to follow in a separate email.

This week we welcome Ms. Jessica Wheaton as the long-term sub for Mr. Henry’s music classes while he is on leave taking care of his newborn twins! A reminder, no chorus rehearsals until December 12th.
