Weekly Announcements 3-23-20

Reported by on 3/23/20

Hello Fry Families,

First and foremost, we hope you and your entire family are healthy and taking good care of each other. Thank you for your support in our first three days of learning at home. As we embark on a full week ahead, the staff at Fry want you to know one thing: It’s ok.

Whatever work was completed is ok. Whatever work wasn’t completed is ok. Whatever time was spent on “school” is ok. Whatever time was spent watching a movie, cooking a meal, playing a game, or facetiming a friend is ok too!

The last three days, along with the upcoming five, are focused on providing students with opportunities for continuity and connection. We recognize that some families have a lot of time to devote to educational endeavors, while others have much more limited availability. Whatever best fits into your family’s schedule is what you should do!

This week, teachers will begin sharing learning activities on/by Monday morning. Please understand that we are in no way attempting to replicate the six hours students spend in school, and you should not either! For younger students, we would expect 2 hours or less of at home activities to be completed per day. If you want/need more, because your child is willing and able, teachers will include optional opportunities to explore. For older students, it may be reasonable to expect up to 3 hours of educational time. Again, if your child is eager for “more” please seek out the additional resources that teachers provide.

Even more important than reading, writing and math, we want our students and their families to be well. This includes mental health and social-emotional well-being. Please take the time necessary to do the things that will bring your family happiness and peace of mind. Please continue to reach out to staff via email and we will do our best to support you!

Be Well Foxes!
