PTA Announcements 8-31-20
On behalf of the Fry PTA:
Dear Fry Families,
Fry PTA welcomes you to the 2020-21 school year! Despite the unpredictable circumstance that we find ourselves in, the PTA would like to continue to support and provide as many of our normal events/activities in one way or another for all students.
I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the PTA board. My name is Jennifer Nied and I will be serving as the PTA President along with Sheri Bozzacco as Vice President, Nadia Shakil as Secretary and Lisa Mastin as Treasurer. In addition to the board, there are numerous committee chairs and parent volunteers, and, with your help and financial support, we are going to have a great year despite COVID-19!
Most of you are aware of the role that PTA plays at Fry, but for those families that are new, here are just a few programs that your membership makes possible for all students:
• Art Awareness
• Fry Science Fair
• Junior Great Books
• STEAM activities
• Funding for multicultural night (FFUN)
• Classroom enrichment funds for teachers and staff
• Electronic resources such as Moby Max, Bookfliks, Zearn etc.
• Fry’s Got Talent
• Library materials and non-fiction material for classrooms
• Classroom parties
• All Pro Dad’s Breakfast
• And many more….
How do we afford all of these programs? Through your membership dues ($20/family paid via PayPal at firstname.lastname@example.org) and donations to our fundraising efforts! Our first fundraiser will be on the first day of school, September 3rd 12-9:30pm. Yogurt Beach has agreed to donate 30% of the sales from Fry Families back to our school! PTA also holds two major fundraisers each year and these are essential to the future of all of the above programs. Unfortunately, this year we are unable to have our FOXTOBER fall fundraiser. However, we will have an alternative fundraiser, details will be provided soon. The second major fundraiser is our Spring Fling, which is an indoor carnival with food, games, music and raffle which includes great prize baskets and a silent auction. Depending on the COVID-19 situation in the spring, this may be adjusted to a Spring Fling Online Auction as we had last May which turned out to be a really fun event!
So, how can you help?
Become a member! Sorry about any confusion, even if you already clicked “Join PTA” during registration this summer, ALL MEMBERS MUST FILL OUT this Google Form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdRS53SogFQDh4iAiOEyScrLNg_u5a406lj2x2ssNzMPBpmTA/viewform. Membership Dues $20/family can be paid via PayPal at email@example.com or by check (drop in mailbox at 3551 Vanilla Grass Dr).
Volunteer! Usually we are in need of volunteers for events or a committee during a normal year. Unfortunately for now, we are unable to have any volunteers enter the building. If we are in need of volunteers in the future, we will let you know.
Attend PTA Meetings: They are held once a month on Fridays currently via ZOOM. Dates are announced through the Fry PTA Facebook page, Monday morning announcements and can also be found on the school website. The first meeting is on September 11th, 2020 at 9:30.
Amazon Smile: You can also support Fry PTA by shopping with Amazon Smile. You retain all of your Prime benefits and raise funds for our kids.
Dining Nights: Fry partners with local restaurants for special “Fry” night fundraisers.
