Fry Elementary School Weekly Announcements 10/23/17

Happy Foxtober! It’s Fit Foxes week! Please see the PTA Announcements for important Foxtober info!

Have you signed up for a Conference?

District 204 is now using an on-line conference sign-up system, PowerPTC. All parents/guardians were sent an email to activate their account for parent/teacher conference sign-up. Once activated, parents will be able to login and sign-up for conferences for all their students.

Parents have until November 2nd to sign-up for a conference! If you haven’t done so, please check your email accounts for your activation notice, or contact the office to have a new email sent to you.

Power PTC will allow parents to sign-up with classroom teachers. As in the past, support staff will access schedules and join classroom conferences as availability allows. If you would like to request a specific conference slot with support staff or specials teachers, please email them directly to do so.

Veterans Day

We are proud to once again host a Veterans Day assembly at Fry on Friday, Nov. 10th at 9:30 am. If your family has a Veteran who is able to attend as a guest of honor, please complete and return the attached form.

We will also dedicate the morning Pledge of Allegiance to Veterans each day in November. Please use the attached form to have the pledge dedicated to a Veteran in your family. Please note, forms need to be returned to school by Friday, Oct. 27th.

Please contact Mrs. Cathy McClure with questions about the assembly. Thank you!

Vision & Hearing Screeings

We have begun mandated vision and hearing screenings through the Fry Health Office. All students in K- through 3rd grade and selected other students in grades 4 and 5 will be screened for vision and/or hearing. If your child wears glasses, please make sure they have them at school.

Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months, and that evaluation is on file at the school. If an examination report is not on file at the school for your child, your child in the mandated age/grade/group will be screened.

If you have any questions about the screenings, please contact Mrs. Barta in the Fry Health Office.

Halloween Parade and Parties

We will hold the Halloween Costume Parade on Tuesday, October 31st at 2:00, weather permitting. Parents are welcome to line up along the front sidewalk (in the grass or on the drive) or along the walkway on the south side of the building to view the parade. If the parade is cancelled due to weather conditions, we will send a connect-ed email by noon.

Please send costumes with students to school in the morning. As a reminder, no weapons or look-a-likes are allowed and costumes should be elementary appropriate. If you child is not able to participate in the parade and/or parties, please contact your child’s teacher in advance so another activity can be arranged.

Unfortunately, due to space considerations and security, room parties are not open for all to attend. Only the assigned PTA room parents who have planned the party activities will participate.
