IPEF Mini-Grant AwardThe Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) has recently awarded a mini-grant to Fry School for an Art project involving the presentation and integration of multicultural art works into the art curriculum. The prints and resources from the grant will also be available for use by all staff as enhancements to their curricular units. The funds will be used to purchase:
The following quote taken from the Fine Arts State Goals summarizes the reason for the inclusion of multicultural curriculum materials. Works of art are some of the highest achievements of civilization. Because the arts are both universal and culturally specific, they are a powerful means of increasing international and intercultural awareness. Through the arts, students gain a greater understanding of their own cultural heritage, as well as a sense of the larger world community. Mrs. Mills, Art Teacher, and the Fry staff and students are grateful to the IPEF for providing the financial support to purchase these artworks. Here are examples of quality first grade student work associated with this IPEF grant.
