Around the House
 | Encourage him/her to read. He or she can read the material found on cereal boxes, soda cans, or candy wrappers. This is not only good reading practice, but is also very informative. |

| Read interesting tidbits of information that you find in newspaper or magazines aloud to your child and discuss, or better yet, have your child read the information to you. |
| Write letters or words on the sidewalk with a paint brush and water or colored chalk. |
| Write letters or numbers using shaving cream or chocolate pudding. |
| Make letters or words out of clay. |
| Count the number of windows, doors, and stairs in the house. |
| Teach him/her how to write a check and balance a checkbook. |
