Math Practice
Parents can help their
student considerably by working on math facts at home. Typically, students benefit
more by frequent drill and practice sessions of 10 minutes, or so vs. less frequent,
longer practice sessions.
Teachers at Fry may periodically conduct
timed math facts tests, but it is not a wise use of our
class time to routinely conduct drill and practice activities. Our math time is primarily
dedicated to new learning and high level problem solving activity. Drill and
practice of math facts is ideal for homework and parents assisting their student at home.
Principal's Perspective: We are seeking to be a
school where parents and
teachers effectively communicate and work together for the benefit of our
children.
