 | Have your child write for information to the Chamber of Commerce or the Office of Tourism in cities you plan to visit. |
 | Have him/her write and send postcards to relatives and friends. |
 | Keep a written journal or diary describing places you have visited. Illustrate with drawn pictures or photographs. |
 | Figure out how far you have traveled; at the end of the trip, figure average daily miles traveled. |
 | Keep a list of daily expenses: gasoline, meals, motels, souvenirs. |
 | Show your child how to use a road map. Have him or her help plan the route each day. |
 | Read the words on the signs along the way. |
 | Make a list of license plate numbers and put them in numerical order. Sort them into odds and evens. Find the number in the ten's place, hundred's place, etc. Round numbers off to the nearest ten. |
