Supported Education

The District 204
delivery model of special education services is called "supported
education" or "inclusion." The Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA), originally signed into law in 1975 by President Ford,
represented a national commitment to provide free, appropriate public
education for students with disabilities. IDEA requires public school
districts to educate students with disabilities in the least restrictive
environment. This is accomplished via school personnel (in cooperation with
parents) choosing from a number of options along a continuum in best meeting
student individual needs. Fry School and District 204 is dedicated to
meeting the needs of all learners. Special Education questions may be
directed to Mrs. Laurie Schuh, Student Service Coordinator.
