Fry Elementary Weekly Announcements 4-19-21

In-person Learning

We have been pleased with our transition to the full-day learning model. We have been happy to welcome additional students to in-person learning. Though we have worked hard to accommodate additional students, we are not able to make any more changes to our rosters.

Adding in-person students has a significant ripple effect on the teacher and classroom. We also have space and furniture limitations in the lunchroom and specials classrooms. Additionally, teachers are now preparing materials for remote learners for the May pick-up.

We will not be able to accommodate any more in-person students after Friday, April 23. We appreciate your understanding.

Monday is a full day of school!

A reminder that Monday’s schedule is 9:00-3:00. We no longer dismiss at 1:00 on Mondays!

IAR Testing

Today, Monday, April 19th is the last day of IAR testing for grades 3-5.

Remote students who are coming in for testing will be at school from 9:00-11:30.

Pictures for Yearbook

If your student was not photographed for the yearbook on Friday (absent or remote students), please submit a picture of your student digitally using the directions below. We want all students represented in the Yearbook!

At-Home School Portrait Guidelines:

Submit a color photo, taken recently but at least within the last 6 months
Use a clear image of your face. Do not use filters commonly used on social media.
Have someone else take your photo. No selfies.
Use a plain white or off-white background. Do not take photo outdoors.
Avoid taking picture in sunlight.
The student should:
Face forward toward the camera
Captured from the shoulders up
Use facial expression matching that of a school portrait (e.g., smiling), no silly faces please.
Have arms resting to the side
Be the only person in the picture
Please email the photo to Fryyearbook2018@gmail.com (please don't overlook the numbers in the email address). Please put “Class Picture” in the subject line. Include the student’s first and last name and class in the email text.

Yearbook Ordering

Yearbooks can be ordered through the IPSD Webstore. Please see the attached directions. This is the only opportunity to purchase yearbooks. Yearbooks are $20. The last date to order yearbooks is April 30th!

Lunchroom

We have made a smooth transition to our adjusted lunchroom procedures.

If your child is bringing a lunch, please have them bring it to school with them in the morning. Lunches dropped off at school throughout the day create delivery challenges and uncertainty for students and staff. Also, please pack spoons, napkins etc. We do not have utensils to give out.

Students may order a school lunch in the morning at no charge. Milk is also available at no charge. The menu is on the district website https://www.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx/SchoolLunches

Self-Certification

All students attending school need to have a self-certification completed in Parent Vue each morning. Please set a reminder to complete this prior to 8:30 any day your child attends school. Students who are not self-certified cannot go to class when they arrive at school.

Residency Verification Process

The district is again contracting with a third-party vendor to automatically verify student address information. As was the case last year, we anticipate the overwhelming majority of our families will be electronically verified.

If your residency is electronically verified, you will receive a letter of confirmation via US Mail and there will be no need to submit any additional paperwork to certify that you live within the district’s boundaries.

A letter will also be sent to families whose residency we are unable to verify electronically. The letter will provide details on additional information you will need to provide by May 3, 2021 in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.

Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 204 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
