Fry Elementary Weekly Announcements 5-10-21

Thank you to the Fry PTA for organizing a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week! The Fry Staff appreciates all the notes, treats and kindness delivered by students and families. Thank you!


Parent Input for 21-22 School Year

Each spring staff begin the process of creating recommended class placements for the following school year. We know parents play an important role in helping us have a complete picture of each child's needs. If your child has a unique learning environment or peer circumstance which you would like staff to consider, we encourage you to complete a parent input form. Please take the time to share any concerns now, as once placements are made in the fall they cannot be changed.

Please use the link below if needed. This is completely optional and not expected for most students. The form will be open through this Friday, May 14th.

Pictures for Yearbook

LAST CHANCE! If your student was not photographed for the yearbook on 4/16, please submit a picture of your student digitally using the directions below. We want all students represented in the Yearbook! Please submit the photo this week.

At-Home School Portrait Guidelines:

Submit a color photo, taken recently but at least within the last 6 months
Use a clear image of your face. Do not use filters commonly used on social media.
Have someone else take your photo. No selfies.
Use a plain white or off-white background. Do not take photo outdoors.
Avoid taking picture in sunlight.
The student should:
Face forward toward the camera
Captured from the shoulders up
Use facial expression matching that of a school portrait (e.g., smiling), no silly faces please.
Have arms resting to the side
Be the only person in the picture
Please email the photo to Fryyearbook2018@gmail.com (please note there numbers in the address). Please put “Class Picture” in the subject line. Include the student’s first and last name and class in the email text.


Student Absences:

Parents of both remote and in-person students should continue to use the attendance line to report a student absence before 9 AM daily. In-person students are marked absent when they are not physically attending school as scheduled. We are unable to accommodate in-person students temporarily switching to remote learning for personal reasons such as vacation, travel, appointments, etc.

Families who are in communication with the nurse and have a defined return date due to illness or quarantine do not need to call the attendance line daily. If a student needs to have an extended absence as directed by the health office, the classroom teacher will ensure materials are made available for pick-up so the student is able to participate remotely.


In-person Learning Reminders:

Lunchroom

If your child is bringing a lunch, please have them bring it to school with them in the morning. Lunches brought to school throughout the day create challenges and uncertainty for students and staff. Also, please pack spoons, napkins etc. We do not have utensils to give out.

Students may order a school lunch in the morning at no charge. Milk is also available at no charge. The menu is on the district website https://www.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx/SchoolLunches

Self-Certification

All students attending school need to have a self-certification completed in Parent Vue each morning. Please set a reminder to complete this prior to 8:30 any day your child attends school. Students who are not self-certified cannot go to class when they arrive at school.

Extra Masks

While all students should arrive at school wearing a mask, we ask that all students also have an extra, clean mask in a baggie inside their backpack. Thank you!


Remote Learning Reminders:

ACE (Ask, Connect, Engage) for Remote Learners

District 204 is pleased to provide Remote Learners additional access to IPSD 204 teacher support. From 4-7pm Mondays through Thursdays, staff will be available. If your child has a question or needs some assistance with schoolwork our staff are here to support you on Zoom. You do not need to register or sign up. Your child can stay on as long or as short as they’d like.
