Fry Elementary Weekly Announcements 8/30/21
Picture Day Friday, Sept. 3rd
Fry’s Picture Day is this Friday, Sept. 3rd. Payment envelopes have been sent home with students. Please complete the envelope and return it to school by Friday morning if you plan to purchase pictures.
Indian Prairie School District 204 will administer aimswebPlus benchmark assessments to all elementary students this fall. These brief Illinois Learning Standards aligned assessments evaluate student academic performance and growth in the areas of reading and mathematics. Specifically, depending on grade level, literacy measures will assess vocabulary, phonological awareness, word recognition, reading comprehension and reading fluency. Additionally, depending on grade level, numeracy measures will assess number sense, operations, algebraic thinking, measurement/data, geometry, and fractions. The assessment results are used by school staff to assist with instructional planning and differentiation at the grade, classroom, and student level. Information about aimswebPlus benchmark results will be shared later this fall.
Please note: 3rd Grade walkers are now dismissed at Door #6 (northside/back of school). 2nd and 4th Graders continue to dismiss at Door #7, 5th Grade at Door #8, Kindergarten and 1st Grade at Door #9 (near playground).
Families should be able to determine a consistent dismissal plan. Once decided, please notify the teacher(s) and make sure students know the plan. We ask families to stick with one consistent dismissal plan, as changes present increased chance for confusion/error. Any dismissal plan changes should be communicated in writing to the classroom teacher and confirmed in advance. Please do not call the office during the school day to change dismissal procedures.
Following the first full week of school and bus route/bus load review by the IPSD transportation department, we expect to have changes to our bus routes. We will inform families as soon as information is available in ParentVue. No changes will go into effect this week.
No Parking Zones
Parents should look for and observe the posted “No Parking” areas on Tall Grass Dr., Brooksedge Ave., Sunburst Ln. and Grassmere Rd. Note, there are “No Parking” signs on the southside of Brooksedge. Yellow curbs are also no parking areas. These limitations exist to aid the flow of traffic and promote safety. Please model appropriate pedestrian safety for our kids by using crosswalks and avoid cutting through parked cars to cross roadways.
Bikes on School Grounds
For safety reasons, we ask that students and parents/guardians walk their bikes on school property, and other crowded sidewalk areas, when coming to/leaving school.
