Fry Birthday Books
Are you looking for a great way to honor your child’s birthday at school? Fry’s Library Media Center (LMC) has an idea for you! Donate a book in honor of your child’s birthday to Fry’s LMC. It helps build our library collection and makes your child feel special at the same time!
Here’s how it works:
During October, sign your child up by going to the school webstore in PushCoin and paying the $15.00 for a hardcover book that your child will choose during their birthday month. By doing this now, it helps us know how many children will be participating this year, so we can have enough fresh titles on our Birthday Book Cart that the children will select from. During the month of your child’s birthday, we will have him/her choose a book and we will take their picture with the book. A bookplate sticker with your child’s name and picture will be placed in the front of the book. If your child’s birthday falls during June-September, we’ll have them choose on their half birthday month. Then your child will be the first one to check out his/her birthday book from the LMC, and once they return it, other children can check it out and enjoy it too!
It’s just that easy! Just sign up by paying the $15.00 through our Webstore on PushCoin and we will do the rest! You will need your email address and password for PushCoin to complete the purchase. Here is the link: https://store.ipsd.org/#!/products/N5FFVSXTVC
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Loughran, Fry’s LMC Director (email@example.com or 630-428-7414.) Thank you for considering this way to honor your child’s birthday and help the LMC!
Student Absences Due to Travel
Please note the following, copied from the Fry Parent Handbook:
Prolonged Absence due to Family Vacations
When an absence occurs due to a vacation, students will not be given homework in advance. Alternative assignments such as keeping a journal and assigning some reading may be given when appropriate. Upon returning to school the child will be given makeup work to be completed in a reasonable amount of time.
PTA Room Parties are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 22nd. They will be held outdoors. Students will participate in games and activities planned by room parents. In the event of inclement weather, parties will be rescheduled sometime during the following week.
The traditional Halloween Parade is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29th at 2:30. Students may bring costumes with them to school in the morning. Students will put costumes on in the afternoon. Costumes should be elementary-age appropriate. No weapons or look-a-likes are allowed.
Parents are invited to watch the parade along the front or south-side sidewalks of the school. In the event of inclement weather, the outdoor parade will be canceled. If we need to cancel, we will send a connect ed message by noon. Please do not call the school to check on the status of the parade.
A reminder to parents that many teachers use the ParentVue system for regular communication (i.e. weekly newsletters). Please make sure you login when notified that you have a message. Thank you!
Families who use the carline for morning drop-off must pull all the way forward in the line whenever possible (think of the carline as a giant “U”. We fill the WHOLE “U” during drop-off, even the part past the gym door, almost all the way up to the STOP sign.)
We cannot allow cars to stop at the gym door to avoid having students walk, as this causes delays for everyone. Staff are on duty to assist and supervise.
As an alternative, parents are welcome to park on Grassmere Dr., east of the parking lot, and escort students to the gym door if they wish to do so.
Volunteer Vaccination Requirement
On August 26, 2021 Governor Pritzker issued Executive Order 2021-20 requiring all school personnel to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and become fully vaccinated. School personnel is defined as “any person who (1) is employed by, volunteers for, or is contracted to provide services for a School or school district serving students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, or who is employed by an entity that is contracted to provide services to a School, school district, or students of a School, and (2) is in close contact (fewer than 6 feet) with other persons in the School for more than 15 minutes at least once a week on a regular basis as determined by the School.”
Volunteers at our school need to show proof of a Covid-19 vaccination. Please plan accordingly as you will be asked to complete a form and show the documentation for our records. We will view your documentation but will not take a copy. Once completed, the form will stay on file.
Dogs on Campus
Please keep dogs leashed and at a distance, away from the playground, bike rack, entry/exit doors, etc. Pets on campus should not be near students. Thank you!
