ThanksFryPTA!๐Ÿงก

The Fry PTA is off to a great start this year supporting our students, teachers and classrooms!

We appreciate the PTA purchasing Scholastic News for all students again this year. Our 4th and 5th Grade teachers are also thrilled to have Vocabulary A to Z, purchased by the PTA, as a digital resource.

Our staff enjoyed 2 tasty treats in October courtesy of the PTA. We loved the "Life of A Teacher" cupcakes that made their swift debut on Oct. 3rd, along with a fabulous taco bar dinner during conferences last Thursday.

Thank you to the PTA and our parent volunteers for planning fun fall parties earlier this month. We are all very much looking forward to the Foxtober "Glow Party" this coming Friday!

As Foxtober comes to a close, please consider making a donation to the Fry PTA. Our whole school community will truly benefit from your generosity!

e-Scooterande-BikeInformation๐Ÿ›ด

Please read the district communication below:

As we work together to ensure a safe environment for all of our students, staff, and families, we want to provide some important reminders regarding the use of electric scooters (e-scooters).

Recently, we have seen an increase in students using e-scooters when traveling to and from school. While these devices may seem convenient, they present safety concerns for both riders and pedestrians, especially during busy arrival and dismissal times. For that reason, e-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on school property.

We also want to make families aware of local regulations:

  • In Naperville, e-bikes and e-scooters are not allowed on sidewalks and must follow the same traffic laws as bicycles.

  • Class 3 e-bikes require riders to be at least 16 years old, and state law prohibits operating low-speed e-scooters unless the rider is at least 18.

  • Riders are required to use bike lanes or remain near the curb, and at night must have proper lights and reflectors.

We encourage parents to talk with their children about these rules and remind them to walk, ride traditional bicycles, or use other safe methods when traveling to and from school. If unsafe or illegal use is observed in the community, parents are encouraged to contact the Naperville Police Department.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students and school safe.

HalloweenCostumeParade๐ŸŽƒ

Fry will hold our annual Halloween costume parade on Friday, Oct. 31st at 2:45, weather permitting.

Students may bring costumes with them to school in the morning. Students will put costumes on in the afternoon. Costumes should be elementary-age appropriate. No weapons or look-a-likes are allowed. Dressing up is optional – we will have an alternate activity for any students who would rather not be part of the parade.

Parents are invited to watch the parade along the front or south-side sidewalks of the school. The front circle will be blocked off. The students will parade from the gym, across the front of the school, down the sidewalk of the southside of the school and in the back doors. It’s a quick parade!

In the event of inclement weather, the outdoor parade will be canceled. If this is the case, parents will be notified via email by noon.

ProlongedAbsenceMake-upWork๐Ÿ“’

Please note our school procedures, copied below from the Fry Parent Handbook:

Prolonged Absence due to Family Vacations: When an absence occurs due to a vacation, students will not be given homework in advance. Alternative assignments such as keeping a journal and assigning some reading may be given when appropriate. Upon returning to school the child will be given make- up work to be completed in a reasonable amount of time.

Prolonged Absence due to Illness: When a student has been absent for three or more days due to illness, teachers will provide homework as appropriate given adequate time to prepare. A teacher might advise alternative assignments such as keeping a journal and assigning some reading when appropriate. Parents are asked to keep in mind that much of what happens in class (direct instruction, discussions, activities, informal assessing, group work, etc.) cannot be made up by sending paper/pencil work home.

ForgottenItems๐Ÿ“š

If your child forgot their lunch, or another essential item, please ensure it is dropped off at school PRIOR to 11:00. Forgotten items are delivered to students at 10:00 and 11:00 ONLY.
